Michael James Butts has been recording the world with his camera for nearly three decades. Ten years spent in Auckland, New Zealand were formative in shaping the view through his lens. In those early years, he started by using his dad's Minolta SR-T 101 shooting gigs for the alternative band, SLK. He continued his photography work back in the States, where he earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design. Some of Michael's recent inspirations include the urban environment, vinyl record covers, films, and family. He now lives in Boston, MA with some of his favorite photography subjects: his twin girls. Michael is a member of ASMP.
